Worship Devotional - "Worship Is Worthship"

Dec 12, 2025

Key Scripture: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing!" - Revelation 5:12

Reflection

A derivative of the word worship is "worthship"—an acknowledgement of worth or value. Worship is essentially the response we have to the value or appraisal we attribute to God. The degree to which we value God will be reflected in our worship.

Lucifer was created to worship and serve God, and yet he led a rebellion in Heaven. His problem was rooted in pride, which caused him to overestimate his own worth while devaluing God. He progressively moved away from worshiping God to worshiping himself, valuing his own worth as greater than God's.

God has made Himself known to all people, but even those who have accepted Him as Lord don't value and subsequently worship Him equally. The value we assign to God is expressed by the extent to which we worship and obey Him.

Here is a powerful truth: the more we get to know Him, the more we will value Him, and the more we will give Him unrelenting worship. Knowledge of God fuels the fire of worship. When we truly see who He is, worship becomes our natural response.

Today's Challenge

Spend time today meditating on one attribute of God—His faithfulness, His power, His love, His holiness. Let the knowledge of who He is increase your valuation of Him and overflow into worship.

Prayer

Lord, forgive me for the times I have undervalued You. Open my eyes to see Your true worth and majesty. As I grow in the knowledge of You, let my worship increase proportionally. You are worthy of my highest praise and deepest devotion. Amen.

Breakthrough Praise -Todah
Key Scripture “Whoever offers praise glorifies Me.” — Psalm 50:23 Reflection The Hebrew word “Todah” describes thanksgiving offered before the answer appears. It is praise rooted in faith rather than visible evidence. Anyone can thank God after breakthrough arrives. But mature worshipers learn to thank Him while still waiting.
