Worship Devotional - "Recognizing Pride's Subtle Danger"

Aug 15, 2025

Key Scripture: "For all that is in the world - the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life - is not of the Father but is of the world." - 1 John 2:16

Reflection Pride is worship's greatest enemy because it fundamentally opposes the heart of worship - giving God the honor He deserves. The pride of life means valuing God and His things lower than yourself and your possessions. It's the subtle belief that you're more important than the One who created you.

Pride made Lucifer believe that God was dispensable and that he could replace God as governor of the universe. When pride takes root in our hearts, we fall into the same delusion - thinking we can handle life without fully depending on God.
