Worship Devotional - "Divine Reminders: Tassels and Feasts"

Nov 05, 2025

Key Scripture: "And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the LORD and do them." - Numbers 15:39

Reflection God went to amazing lengths to help His people remember His covenant. He commanded them to attach tassels to the corners of their garments, establish feast days, and even mark their bodies through circumcision - all as reminders of their relationship with Him. Every detail was intentional, designed to keep His people from forgetting who He was and who they were.

The tassels on Israelite garments weren't fashion statements - they were walking reminders of God's commandments. Jewish tradition held that each tassel consisted of eight strands and five double knots. The numerical value of the Hebrew letters for "tassel" (tzitzit) totaled 600, and 600 plus 8 plus 5 equals 613 - the traditional number of biblical commandments. Every time they looked down, they were reminded to obey.
