Worship Devotional - "Be Filled with the Spirit Through Song"

Sep 22, 2025

Key Scripture: "And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs." - Ephesians 5:18-19

Reflection Paul draws a fascinating comparison between being drunk with wine and being filled with the Holy Spirit. Both states involve being influenced and controlled by something outside yourself, but one leads to destruction while the other leads to divine expression. The evidence of being Spirit-filled isn't speaking in tongues or prophesying - it's singing.

When you're truly filled with the Spirit, you'll speak to yourself and others in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, making melody in your heart to the Lord. This isn't just casual singing - it's extravagant praise flowing from a heart saturated with God's presence. The Holy Spirit wants to be the song leader of your heart, the music director of your being.
