The Sacrifice of Worship

Jun 10, 2025

Key Scripture: "And Abraham called the name of the place, The-LORD-Will-Provide" - Genesis 22:14

Reflection

Abraham, the father of faith, teaches us that true worship often requires sacrifice. When God asked him to offer Isaac - his miracle son and the key to God's promise - Abraham's response wasn't complaint or negotiation. It was worship.

The first mention of "worship" in the Bible comes from Abraham's lips as he prepared to sacrifice what was most precious to him. He understood something profound: the power of God's promise was greater than the power of sacrifice. His faith in God's character enabled him to worship even when it made no earthly sense.

Scripture: Psalm 103:2 “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” One of the greatest enemies of gratitude is forgetfulness. The human mind naturally remembers pain more easily than faithfulness. Disappointments linger. Failures replay themselves. Fears amplify future uncertainty. This is why David intentionally commands his soul: “Forget not.” Gratitude often begins with rem...
