Worship Devotional - The Motivation for Praise Is Love

Mar 09, 2026

Key Scripture: "I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me diligently will find Me." - Proverbs 8:17

Reflection

The motivation for God to change us is His deep, endless love for us. And our motivation for praise must be the same—love. Praise must be personal and from the heart to our best friend, Jesus. If our praise is based on anything outside of a personal love relationship with Him, it is not true praise but a substitute.

Jesus made this principle clear when He spoke to the Pharisees, who searched the Scriptures for truth but would not come to the One who was Truth. They refused an intimate relationship with the Person of Truth. Sadly, we see a similar thing happening today—Christians who want to keep Jesus at a safe distance when it comes to loving Him.

If we keep Jesus at a distance, He will remain there. When we embrace Him, He will embrace us. Galatians 5:6 tells us that faith works by love. Praise must also work by love, because it is the highest expression of faith.

A love for God is what makes our praise real. If we do not have love, we will lack faith and certainly won't be able to praise. Love is above all things, and it has no competitors. When we praise God from a foundation of love, nothing can stop our praise from moving mountains.

Today's Challenge

Before you praise today, check your motivation. Are you praising out of obligation, habit, or genuine love? Take a moment to reconnect with your love for Jesus. Let that love be the fuel that powers your praise.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, I don't want to keep You at a distance. I choose to embrace You with all my heart. Let my praise flow from genuine love—not duty, not performance, but authentic affection for You. I love You, and that love is my reason for praise. Amen.

It carries the idea of worship that is skillful, intentional, and focused on ministering to God. Music has always carried spiritual significance throughout Scripture. David understood the power of worship music deeply. When...
Breakthrough Praise -Todah
Key Scripture “Whoever offers praise glorifies Me.” — Psalm 50:23 Reflection The Hebrew word “Todah” describes thanksgiving offered before the answer appears. It is praise rooted in faith rather than visible evidence. Anyone can thank God after breakthrough arrives. But mature worshipers learn to thank Him while still waiting. Todah praise declares confidence in God’s faithfulness even when ...
