Worship Devotional - "Instant Capacity to Be Thankful"

Jul 16, 2025

Key Scripture: "Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures." - James 1:18

Reflection

The moment we get saved, our "dead" spirit becomes "alive" to God, and we instantly have the capacity to be thankful. God has designed us so that when we first become aware of His presence in our lives, thanksgiving is our natural response. We don't have to learn to be thankful - we're created for it.

At the beginning of our salvation, our praise may be limited because praise is based on knowledge, and we don't know much about God yet. Our worship may also be limited because we haven't experienced intimate times with Him. But we can immediately be thankful because His presence has come to dwell in our lives.

This reveals something profound: the source of all Christian singing must be God's Word. If the lyrics don't support biblical truth, the songs do not support true praise. We live i...
Worship Devotional - "Rejoicing in His Testimonies"
Key Scripture: "I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches." - Psalm 119:14   Reflection The psalmist makes an extraordinary comparison: he rejoiced in God's testimonies as much as in all riches. Think about that. The Word of God brought him the same level of joy that winning the lottery would bring most people—perhaps even more. Rejoicing and praise are deeply con...
