The Sacrifice of Worship

Reflection

Abraham, the father of faith, teaches us that true worship often requires sacrifice. When God asked him to offer Isaac - his miracle son and the key to God's promise - Abraham's response wasn't complaint or negotiation. It was worship.

The first mention of "worship" in the Bible comes from Abraham's lips as he prepared to sacrifice what was most precious to him. He understood something profound: the power of God's promise was greater than the power of sacrifice. His faith in God's character enabled him to worship even when it made no earthly sense.
