School of Worship FAQ

Is Psalmody for all denominations?

Yes, we believe it is and we have already seen this to be true with the success of our ministry over the years in many denominations. Doctrinally we won’t always agree and we accept this, however we believe most of the principles we teach will be acceptable to most denominations. They are extremely helpful in developing a greater understanding of worship, the benefits it brings to the church and the impact it has on society.

Do the courses teach music?

No. Our courses teach biblical principles of the lifestyle of worship. None of the three levels of the School of Worship courses teach about music, except that music is used as a powerful medium in the Bible for praise and worship. We want to emphasise that our courses teach:
1) What worship is;
2) How to develop a lifestyle of worship;
3) The benefits God has promised us when we worship.

What does music have to do with worship?

One can worship without the use of music, but biblically there is a strong connection between music and praise and worship. Music seems to be the vehicle God has chosen to convey praise and worship to Him. God has given us music to enjoy, but also to worship.

Is there courses for musicians /singers?

We do have a non-musical course specifically developed for musicians and singers called ‘New Testament Music Ministry'. It shows the role of the musician/singer in the church and their relationship with leadership. It is also an excellent resource for church leadership that will help them understand the function and relationship necessary for healthy and anointed music ministry.

Why is the ministry called Psalmody?

The name Psalmody, though not based on the Psalms, was inspired by the book of Psalms and the title given to King David in 2 Samuel 23:1 referring to him as the sweet psalmist of Israel. The resources of Psalmody are based on both the Old and New Testaments. David was a man after Gods own heart and the Psalms were a reflection of David’s heart. As the Psalms are not only about Praise and Worship but also about life principles and practices as Gods children, so is the teaching of Psalmody. We believe the principles taught in Psalmody resources will help you develop more Christlike qualities. Nothing will transform your life to become more like Jesus than being intimate with Him in worship.

Should musicians study the courses?

We strongly recommend that everyone involved in Christian music do the School of Worship because it will help them increase their knowledge of the subject of praise and worship and provide a strong foundation and confidence from which to minister. The course is beneficial to all Christians though, whether they are involved with music or not.

What ages is the School of Worship aimed at?

We recommend that those ages fourteen years and older will grasp the principles without any problem. We also have children’s material available and plan to develop material aimed at teenagers in the future. School of Worship has also been successfully implemented in Christian High Schools in the past as part of their religious instruction.

What is the new Workbook?

The Workbook is a new addition to the course. It was written to help you apply to the principles of worship, praise and thanksgiving as a lifestyle. Please try out the sample chapter we have made available.

I want DVDs but I am not studying in a group, can I get them?

DVDs are only being made available to Schools/Groups because we believe that the maximum benefit will be gained from the course when it is be done in a group format. If you would like to start a School, you need a minimum of four people.
